He'll be burning leaves and debris, but you know this coat is made from 12 ounce fire-resistant cotton. This material is a heavyweight canvas with a tight uniform, medium weave. It weights approximately 12-ounces per square yard. The important thing is that it is flame resistant treated for his protection.
You know that a normal fabric will burn away from the point of ignition. It will continue to burn until it is extinguished or all flammable material is consumed. A flame-resistant fabric (like the one from which this coat is constructed) resists ignition, and prevents the spread of flames away from the immediate area of high heat impingement. It will self-extinguish almost immediately upon removal of the ignition source.
