Rigid, wide steel shanks give you extra support to the arch areas of these unisex boots to give you more stable steps. In case you’re wondering: a shank is a flat piece of material located above the outer sole at middle-part of each boot located between the heel and ball area, just below the arch. As previously stated, these provide support for the arches of your feet, especially if you're stepping on un-even surfaces. These waterproof boots will help keep your feet comfortable and protected, all day long.
When it starts to get a little too hot out, the unique, flexible uppers of these Bogs boots can easily roll down, so you can get some much-needed air to your legs. I work in an environment that is very tough on boots. I rarely get 6 months out of leather boots. I figured maybe a pair rubber boots would hold up better. They are pretty light and surprisingly cool. I expected them to be less comfortable than leather boots but they weren't particularly. Unfortunately within about 2 months they had cracked and were leaking where the toe bends. Was very disappointed.
