From Bulwark, the world's largest manufacturer of flame-resistant apparel, comes this Bulwark Men's Navy Flame Resistant Fleece Sweatshirt SNH2 NV.
Flame-resistant fabrics allow you to work safely in high-risk work environments. This sweatshirt features an arc protection rating of ATPV 13.8 calories/cm2. ATPV means "Arc Thermal Protective Value." The number, in this case 13.8, is the minimum incident energy (calories per centimeter squared) that your protective wear can be exposed to and still prevent you from receiving second-degree burns. The ATPV varies depending on two things: fabric weight and flame resistance. This sweatshirt is made of a mid-weight (9.4 ounce), knit Nomex Fleece (96% Nomex Aramid, 3% KevlarAramid and 1% other fiber), so it provides a high level of safety. Higher ATPV ratings can be achieved by layering ATPV-rated garments. A two-ply hood with draw-string closure and rib-knit cuffs at wrists and waist band provide added safety features.
Unlike some other types of flame-resistant clothing which are flame resistant only because of a sprayed-on finish, this Bulwark sweatshirt is woven of flame-resistant fibers. That means it can be washed at home on your washing maching's light soil setting. But check the sweatshirt's pouch pocket before you throw it in there.
