You need a fire-resistant hat that’ll trap heat from the inside, while keeping dangerous heat, flames and sparks on the outside from getting in. What do you do? Constructed of 7.5 ounce, Nomex IIIA fleece, this Carhartt hat is warm, breathable and incredibly protective. Nomex IIIA is a protective fabric blend made of 93 percent Nomex, 5 percent Kevlar Aramid and 2 percent other fiber. (Don't ask.) Nomex protects against flame, heat and electric arcs, while Kevlar makes the fabric more resistant to breakage, tears and abrasions and is lightweight. Nomex IIIA is inherently flame-resistant, therefore, washing this FR hat at home won’t damage its protective features.
After rigorous testing, this fleece work hat has been rated by the National Fire Protection Agency at NFPA 70E. It’s been given a Hazard Risk Category of 2 which provides flame resistance protection and it also protects from arc hazards - it has a rating of ATPV 15.2 calories/cm2. What all this means is that this flame-resistant Carhartt hat won’t melt and burn when it’s exposed to heat and flame.
