Carolina CA1424 Women's 6-inch Flex Lace Brown Leather Work Boots are made with Briar leather uppers, and lined with Dri-lex lining. They have a removable footbed, a polyurethane midsole for flexibility, stability and shock-resistance, a dual-density polyurethane outsole, and a steel shank for stability. The insole is made with DRYZ technology that absorbs moisture and converts it into a dry gel in the insole, while remaining dry to the touch.
Opanka construction provides durability and flexibility. Opanka Construction is an old European way of making footwear where the shoe is all hand-sewn, attaching the upper, the sole and the sock lining at one time with double needle stitching. This creates the flexibility of an unconstructed moccasin.
The steel toes meet or exceed the compression and impact testing rating of 1-75 and will absorb up to 75 lbs. of impact. The rubber soles provide traction and protect against electrical hazard-tested to withstand applications of 14,400 volts at 60hz for one minute without leakage.

Despite my wearing a wide width, I do not look like Olive Oyle in them. The toe box is roomy and the opanka style sole doesn't look overly bulky.

We had to do a return for another size but were working with a narrow time frame for my daughter who needed the boots for a missions trip to Zambia, Africa.
