The Goodyear Storm Welt is an extremely popular feature. The innersole is stitched to the sole then the whole unit is sewn onto the welt. You just can’t lose the sole. The Storm Welt has a bead over the stitching to keep dust and other debris from getting inside the boot at the welt line.
