The 8-inch high uppers not only protect you against rocks and brambles, but are part of a guaranteed waterproof system. These are made of full grain water-resistant leather and Cordura, the abrasion-resistant, breathable nylon that is ten times more durable than cotton duck , is llightweight, and dries faster than leather. Inside is a Gore-Tex bootie, so you can depend on meeting the challenge of rain and puddles with guaranteed waterproof Matterhorn gear. Gore-Tex amazingly allows moisture to escape, but doesn't let water in. Its wafer-thin membrane is made up of billions of tiny pores that allow the extremely small molecules of water vapor (perspiration) to escape. At the same time, the pores are too small for liquid water to penetrate. And let's not forget the Cambrelle lining, designed to move moisture away from the skin and reduce friction.
