New Balance Boots: Men's Hot Weather DesertLite Combat Boots 453 MTN
New Balance is known for making athletic shoes, so who's better to create military gear? Few workers are expected to be as agile, athletic and quick as military employees. These New Balance 453 MTN Men's 8 Inch DesertLite Tan Military Boots are designed like a soldier’s boots, and they're made for hard workers everywhere.
These tall, military-style boots are made for hot weather wear. The light tan frame has mesh ports throughout the boot to transfer air and increase cooling ventilation around feet. In hot weather, cool feet will give you a strong advantage over every task.
The double-reinforced lacing loops are designed never to fail in the field, so they'll always create a tough bond around feet to keep your boots in place. The molded EVA foam units support and cushion each step. Made with springs on each lug, the midsoles help your steps bounce back after impact.
Full-length molded shanks lift and support arches, preventing pain and muscle strain. Even when you're carrying heavy loads, the shanks will keep your steps supported. High-traction, non-squeak outsoles support the entire design, giving you gripping traction. New Balance 453 MTN Men's 8 Inch DesertLite Tan Military Boots help you perform like a soldier, because all hard workers are.

Light and Comfortable, run a little small...
These New Balance boots are a LOT lighter than they look, which is a good thing, especially if you are going to use this as a garrison boot.
The construction on these boots is solid and after a year of regular use my pair is doing fine.
The sole is reasonably sticky, but I personally wouldn't use these boots in an area where grip was a major concern.
The footbed is very comfortable and your heel seats well, but be aware that these boots run about a 1/2 size small (for men, at least)
Finally, while they are vented, these boots are a little on the warm side for a desert boot.

Excellent boot, held up well...

I can't say enough about these boots. I've had probably seven or eight pairs of boots and none of them are even compare to the comfort and quality of these. Immediately after basic training I purchased a pair and they lasted through the Texas mountains of medic school and the Hawaii rain forest of jungle school and everything in between. These boots are decent in the gulches of the jungle, though they slide around a good amount in mud. Where they really shine is the mountains, where they have just enough cushion to make sure your feet don't get destroyed but also are extremely light. I'm a line medic, so I put my boots through hell and these held up for about a year total, which is insanely long in my line of work. All in all these get an A++ and if they came in the coyote tan color of the new OCP I would buy a pair immediately. Unfortunately, after a year of extreme wear and tear the sole of one boot has nearly completely separated from the boot so I had to retire them, but I still long for the day that I can get them in coyote tan.
