From top to bottom, Bates makes a hard-core product. The light-brown uppers are constructed of ballistic nylon and Wolverine Warrior Leather, Bates' answer to Gore-Tex. Wolverine Warrior Leather is specially tanned with a Scotchguard protector that penetrates the leather and makes it resistant to water, chemicals and stains. As a result of this process, Bates boots are durable, resistant and easy to clean. Additionally, the leather uppers are lined with breathable mesh to keep your feet dry and comfortable all day long.
The soles, like the leather uppers, are built for performance. Bates 9" Desert Boots E02950 are designed to minimize impact and fatigue on your feet and legs, ever after a whole day of trekking through the desert, jungle or just your backyard. They have a multi-terrain Vibram Mutant rubber outsole which provides excellent traction and flexibility and resists wear. Designed to absorb impact and redistribute it on foot strike, these boots provide total support for your feet and legs. The outsole and upper are fused together with an adhesive in a process called "athletic cement construction." This is the same process used to fuse the soles of athletic shoes together, and thus gives maximum flexibility in a lightweight product.
