Darn Tough Socks: Men's Merino Wool Blend Black Hiking Socks 1401 BLK
Darn Tough Socks 1401 BLK Black Men's 1/4 Merino Wool Hiking Socks don't look very tough, and they don't feel very tough. The dark colors are made with soft wool fabric that feels luxurious against skin. It's easy to think anything this attractive and soft is delicate. But you're wrong -- these are darn tough socks.
These black and gray socks are made largely with Merino wool. More than 65% of the fabric is fine Merino, one of the softest wools available. It feels like cashmere, but it performs like a synthetic. Merino wool stays warm even when it's wet, and wicks moisture away from your skin so you stay dryer.
Abrasion-resistant nylon, 31%, also makes up part of the fabric construction. Lightweight, breathable nylon keeps the socks cool and comfortable around you feet. The 4% Lycra spandex adds stretchy flexibility.
High-density cushioning on the bottom of each sock provides shock-absorbance. Ribbing above the ankle keeps the ¼ crew fit snug and comfortable, with less slipping and sliding. Even the arches are supported with stretchy elastic.
The heel and toe areas, which often wear out before the rest of the sock, have been reinforced for strength. Toe seams have been made with ring toe construction for smooth, invisible seams that won't press against your skin. Custom, shrink-treated Merino holds it all together in a warm, darn tough package.
Darn Tough Socks 1401 BLK Black Men's 1/4 Merino Wool Hiking Socks are perfect for the outdoors, but you’ll love them no matter where you wear them.

always on the lookout for great hiking socks...
I love merino wool socks. I have about ten pairs around the house. I wear them all the time, my wife steals them all the time, and I'm always buying new ones. Thought I'd give these Darn Tough Socks a chance. I like them quite a bit, though perhaps not as much as some other pairs I have. The socks are pretty thick, soft, and definitely warm. They look great and they do the wool sock thing that wool socks are supposed to do - stay dry for the most part and insulate even when wet. These do that. The sag on the ankle a bit, though.
