If feet were perfect, boots wouldn't exist. The truth is, toes are too tender, skin is too high-maintenance, and your heels don't have enough built-in cushioning. Merrell J39485 Black Men's Insulated Mid Waterproof Hiker Boots have enough features to make your feet better in any weather conditions.
These mid-cut, all black boots are made with high-quality cow suede. The soft, fuzzy leather is great to touch, but that's not why it was used for these 6-inch uppers. Suede is stretchy and flexible, comfortable and easy to wear. But it's also tough, resisting wear and tear even when you do a lot of wearing and tearing. To add even more strength, TPU was placed over half the upper shell of these men's Merrell boots. Thermoplastic polyurethane is lightweight, impact-absorbent and tough.
The bellows tongue keeps out debris, because you don't need anything extra inside your waterproof boots. What you do need is the quick-dry fleece lining, material that wicks moisture and pulls sweat away from skin. You also need the 200 gram weight Merrell Opti-Warm low-bulk insulation, which holds in your heat to keep cold weather at bay. The 300 gram weight Merrell Conductor fleece is lightweight, soft, and provides even more heat-retaining warmth, perfect for insulated boots.
It's all part of the ColdSmart thermal system, which helps keep your temperature regulated with carefully-placed airflow channels. The ColdSmart air flow channels release moist air while retaining hot air, so your feet have what they need and not what they don't.
A waterproof membrane surrounds your steps in dry comfort while you wear these Merrell hiking boots. The membrane can't be penetrated by water, but it's still breathable to providing ventilation that keeps skin healthy. The Active Heat insole is made with silver reflective film that reflects your own natural body heat. These boots are made to keep you comfortable and warm even in temperatures as low as negative 25 degrees F.
Compression-molded EVA foam in the midsole layer adds lightweight cushioning for added softness to these men's insulated hiking boots. To give feet strength, molded nylon was used to create the shanks. They lift and support arches to prevent strained, pained muscles.
The soles are built with traction features that were inspired by wolf paws. They have a 5.5 mm sole lug depth to bite deeply and keep your steps secure. A snowshoe strap ridge was added to provide more stability. The Merrell Norsehund Cold Smart traction sole keeps your steps safe, even in icy and dangerous weather conditions.
