The Carhartt FRV036 BRN Men's Brown Flame-Resistant Duck Vest is made with 100% Mount Vernon Mills cotton. It’s NFPA approved for HRC 4. That’s the highest level of protection available for working around machinery that can cause arc flashes. There’s even extra protection in the flame-resistant quilted lining.
Check with your supervisor to find out what HRC Level is best for the machinery you work near. Arc flashes can be dangerous and you need to make sure you’re protected. According to NFPA, you may even have to use layers of protective clothing around highly dangerous machinery.
Besides protecting you, the vest has tons of features like quilt-lined pockets to keep your hands warm and a Nomex knit collar. And cotton duck is water-resistant, so that early morning drizzle won't end up soaking your shirt. The kidney flap is designed to keep cold away from your lower back. Inside there’s a patch pocket that closes with a hook and loop to keep it closed. The brass front zipper with Nomex zipper tape has inside and outside protective flaps plus covered snaps for to guard against electric arc flashes.
