The charcoal gray fabric is 24 ounce, 100% Mackinaw wool. This quality material is soft, warm and tough. Mackinaw wool can absorb up to 30% of its own weight in water without getting damp, so you stay dry and comfortable.

It is a big plus that this is made in the USA in Filson's Seattle factory. Like everything Filson makes in America, the construction on this item is fantastic.
The only thing to keep in mind is that Filson's Mackinaw wool does not totally block wind. But it does cut it down a lot.
