These standards set minimum performance criteria for tests of impact resistance, penetration resistance, ignition and flammability resistance, lens thickness, prismatic deviation, haze, luminous transmittance, corrosion, and more.
The glasses are tested, for example, to withstand the impact of a pointed 500 gram projectile (weighing about 18 ounces, we figured it out) dropped from a height of 51.2 inches without any fragments touching the eye. These lenses won't blur up on you because they're hard-coated to resist scratches, and are fog-resistant.
