i have owned a pair of these for 3 years. the best boot i have found to date. usually a pair of work boots will last me 6-8 months, but these babies are still going strong. i work in the heavy towing industry and i expose my footwear to many hazards. i actually lit the sole of these boots on fire when i stepped on a piece of hot slag! my coworker had to yell fire because i could not feel anything! it left an indentation in the sole, but no affect on anything other than appearance. great all around boot, highly recomended, worth every penny, and they look good too! if you work in the towing industry get the toe protectors.

First off you'll find these in the store as model 2414. Other than the steep price around $210-215 at the dealer this boot doesn't compare to any other boot I've tried. Awesome feel and fit. Sturdy but not hard on the feet, really no break in needed like other red wings I've had in the past. Like other poster says the gore tex model runs a little tighter and will be a little warmer than the non gore tex, but adds a litte padding between the foot and leather. If you have a work boot program and will get some money back then it's a no-brainer.

I don't know if they make a better day in, day out work boot than this baby. Awesome american made quality. Ran a little small compared to non Gore-tex model. These boots are plush! They're worth the $200+ bucks they want for a pair.

I do commercial work in the bay area, and I am constantly working indoors and outdoors all in the same day. I have worn this boot when pouring concrete, framing, working in trenches and creeks, and just about anywhere else you can imagine. I have to say this is a very comfortable boot, even though a bit pricey. Does tend to run a little warm during the summer months but is warm enough for SF bay area winters. The waterproofing tends to make it a half size smaller than their regular boot. I have worn this boot for a year and half now, and the boot has held up well. I believe the waterproofing would have lasted longer if I hadn't stepped on a few nails (I almost got a year out of it), or if I had gotten the type with a sole that protects against punctures. One problem I have had is where the nails have punctured the clear part of the sole where the tread is thinnest. There the rubber is deteriorating, although this has happened only recently and in small spots. It is probably a sign I need to resole the boot. The sole might seem to be thinner under the metatarsul section of the foot but wears relatively slowly. At the one year mark the leather where the toes wore through and was easily fixed with some "tough toe" epoxy. Otherwise the leather upper has worn well. Overall a great boot, and has performed well forty hours and more a week.

I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I ordered my boots at 5 PM yesterday, and they were at my door when i got home today. I laced them up and haven't taken them off since I put them on. These boots are more comfortable than any shoe I have ever owned. The price was much better than my local Redwings dealer. I have yet to really test these boots as far as work, but so far I couldn't be happier.

In the landscape irrigation industry you need a boot that is tough enough to handle a lot of walking, and getting wet constantly. This is the only boot that I have ever had that can handle it on a consistant basis.
