4th pair in 8 years....

Most comfortable pair of Electrical Hazard boots I have found. I have bought Thurogood Electrical Hazard boots with side zipper, which are very comfortable also. But the Thurogood EH boot rubber heel makes it hard to slip on quickly and almost impossible to remove without untying them.
The only draw back of both the Bates & Thurogood EH boot is that they are both made in CHINA. So if you have to buy a CHINA made boot might as well buy one from an American company.
I work industrial construction in high security installations and the composite materials protect my feet and I do not have to remove them when passing through metal detectors at security check points like my coworkers with metal toe boots do.
I have recommended the Bates and Thurogood boots to my coworkers and they have bought both and they agree with me the Bates are easier to get on and off.

The boots are tough, These are the only ones I could find that were close to wide enough for my feet. I did have to order a size larger than usual. The factory insoles are lousy but Aftermarcket insoles helped. I have a bad back and these are about the most comfortable I've found. If you don't lace them too tightly the zipper is a lifesaver.

I love these boots, and I am about...

I love these boots, and I am about to buy a second pair. Why? Because I scuffed up the main uppers and need to have a good military shine. I have had my first pair for over a year and the zippers still work great and help hold my feet and ankle in place. They are light weight and breath very well. The soles are still holding up great, and for me that is really saying something. I am keeping the hold pair as my main kickers around the house.

Solid boots, but they are a little long....

Solid boots, but they are a little long. Should have gone a half size smaller. They are very lightweight and comfortable. The side zipper doesn't really do anything for me. It's nice to unzip them while I'm sitting down, but I still have to untie them to take them off. Overall they are great for running around all day and don't fatigue my feet as much as any of the steel toes I've had in the past. The little tab inside of the zipper has already shown some wear so I'm a little skeptical about their long term durability.

Great, very fast Shipment!The boots are made very nice.Very High quilty materials used in making these boots. I like the side zipper. It works very well. I have a very bad lower back and the side zipper makes it very easy to get the boot on and off.In the past I have tryied the elastic sided boots but they offer no ankle support.These boots you tie so you can adjust the suppport around the ankle. The product ran true to size. I use thes boots on a construction site and they hold up Great.I would buy another pair of Bates Boots.The only thing is they are made in CHINA.I would like it better if they were made in America.That is the only thing about these boots I would change.

are you buying this boot because it has a zipper so you don't have to tie laces? i don't mean because you are lazy. those that have difficulty tying because of back pain know what i'm talking about. if so, look at the thorogood brand. the silencer series is easy to take off and put back on.the sole tends to wear out quickly, but is really comfortable. i was looking at this bates boot for this purpose and it fails miserably. - if you don't care about the zipper then the boot seems of good quality.

Light weight yet durible boot very comfortable, I don't know what boot Chris Alan has but it could not be the ones I have had two pair of. Maybe he should get Red wings they are not as comfortable and come apart at the sole in under a year. Stay with the Bates.

BEST BOOTS IVE OWNED SO FAR....

I BOUGHT SOME WOLVERINES AND THEY WERE SO UNCOMFORTABLE THAT I HAD TO GET SOMETHING ELSE. I HEARD ABOUT THESE FROM A FRIEND AND DECIDED TO GIVE THEM A TRY. THEY ARE LIKE WEARING SAFETY TOED SNEAKERS. SO LIGHT AND COMFORTABLE. WHEN THEY GO BACK ON SALE I WILL BUY ANOTHER PAIR JUST TO KEEP IN MY CLOSET BECAUSE I LIKE THEM SO MUCH.

Going for my 2nd pair....

These Bates boots are nice, the side zips are handy for quick putting on and taking off. I have only tied these once, haven't touched the laces since the day I put them on. Very comfortable. They are very lite weight, so if you are on your feet a lot, then try these.
I highly recommend them. This order will be my 2nd pair.

These boots are incredible. I bought them exactly...

These boots are incredible. I bought them exactly one year ago, and they look, feel, and work great. Not even a stitch has come out and I've only polished them once.
They're also incredibly comfortable -- I work 8 hours a day in a stockroom lifting some rather heavy boxes all day. My feet used to get tired after two hours of working. With these boots, I actually never have any problem with tired feet.
And while I'm no military or enforcement personnel, the zipper works quite well for speedy application. I'm not sure why someone has said the zipper doesn't work well -- I can get both of my shoes on in 11 seconds.
The composite toe lives up to its description; I've dropped a number of fully assembled toolchests on my foot, my only wound being to my pride.
Seriously; if you're still using a heavy pair of work boots, switch to these. The weight feels like you're running around in a thick pair of socks, but you can still kick holes in drywall.
