Quality button suspenders from Carhartt...

I have a pair of these, quality-made, but affordable button suspenders. Most go for the metal clasps these days, but I prefer the classic style of button-ons, and have my wife alter my pants to wear them. WorkingPerson offers a set of buttons on the side that will work with these, or, if you're like our family, you have a mason jar of spare buttons that have been passed down through the generations that will work. These are made of elastic, so have the potential to stretch (this can either be good or bad, depending on your body type). Mine have still kept their form. Also, the color is a little different from the picture here, at least on my monitor -- they're darker navy.
