a step up from the made in China version...

These are nearly double the price of their "made in China" counterparts, but I think the upgrade is worth it. Aside from supporting domestic industry, there is a significant increase in quality and consistency. These are great shoes, durable, and really comfortable once broken in. For my feet, I found it beneficial to purchase a different insole than the one provided by Thorogood. For me, they were 1/4-1/2 size large. I'm normally between an 11 and 11.5, and the 11 fit pretty well.
