better to spend a little extra to get something else...
The inner layer is 100% cotton, so you lose out on many of the benefits of merino wool. The cotton stays wet against your skin and doesn't have the same antibacterial properties of wool. If you buy these, you'll have to wash them everyday. Alternatively you could spend a little more per item, buy a fewer number of pure merino undershirts, wash them less frequently and have a warmer, more comfortable wardrobe.

Happy to find these...
I was disappointed to find that Duofold has quit making their original two-layer underwear; but then very pleased to learn that Coldpruf (Indera) has picked up the ball and produced an identical product every bit as good. The inner cotton layer is comfortable against the skin, while the outer layer's wool provides plenty of warmth. The only negative for me is that I preferred Duofold's grey wool look; the Coldpruf wool is as white as cotton (but I can live with it). I now have four weights of underwear (3 cotton, 1 cotton/wool) from Indera, for year-round use. A great American company.
