better to spend a little extra to get something else...

The inner layer is 100% cotton, so you lose out on many of the benefits of merino wool. The cotton stays wet against your skin and doesn't have the same antibacterial properties of wool. If you buy these, you'll have to wash them everyday. Alternatively you could spend a little more per item, buy a fewer number of pure merino undershirts, wash them less frequently and have a warmer, more comfortable wardrobe.
