Nice, Quality, American Made Shoes...
By: JG
These shoes are very nice for the price! Competitive with similar Danner, and better than Georga (slightly more money). Favorite part is Thorogood shoes are made in America!Danner has shifted some production to China, read lables carefully, Chinese Danners aren't like the old ones used to be.
Leather is of good quality and appropriate thickness for the weight of the boot, all brass hardware appears to be good quality.
They do run a bit on the large size so use caution when ordering. They also include a nifty gel insole that is removeable/replaceable. Not a ton of arch support but the removable insole allows me to use my Superfeet insoles instead for more arch.
They are a nice shoe when I don't need the support or want the weight of my Nick's logging boots.
Have owned and worn for a couple months now and have no regrets!

My new favorite boots...
By: Jason
I am a bit of a shoe whore and have owned many high end boots, Red Wings, Timberlands, etc. I needed a new pair of boots and wanted something a little different. I found these and loved the l style, the roofer sole and the fact that they were US made. When they arrived I was blown away, they had the construction and material quality of boots costing 2-3 times as much.
These are on the heavy side and run big by at least a half size. Other than that, these are tough, pretty and worth every penny. I will be buying Thorogood boots again, but these may never ware out.

Damn Good Boots!...
By: Jeff Clark, Architect
Finally ... the Thorogood 814-4233 roofer is a boot design that honors the work boot above the wanna-be athletic or hiking shoe aesthetic and celebrates the practical elegance, comfort and durability of a work boot. I wear these to office, to client meetings, on project sights ... everywhere. I am stopped frequently by complete strangers asking where I got my Thorogood Roofers Boot and I certainly let them know. Seems like I should get some redeemable bonus points towards my next purchase for these referrals ... except that my first pair will probably last more than a decade before I need to replace them so I’m not sure what good that would do me. Congrats to the designer.

Goofy but practical....
By: AC/DC
Reviewing and explaining the Thorogood lace to toe roofer boot. I'm a contractor, and it seems that whenever I get a roofer for the job, nine out of ten times they're wearing one of these funny clown shoe looking boots. But there's a practical reason for the weird ankle-to-toe lacing. If you've ever walked around on a slanted roof in a pair of regular shoes you'll feel your feet slide around in your shoe. It's uncomfortable and above all, dangerous. Because the lacing goes all way down to the toe on these boots, the tension is distributed more evenly than on a pair of conventional boots. And the leather is tough, and double layered so it doesn't scratch up easily against the shingles. I know a lot of painters, and carpenters, and even insurance adjustors that swear by these boots. I got a pair even though I don't wear them on a regular basis. But you can bet I'll be rocking the clown shoes when the job involves me getting up to the roof.
