Clunky and kind of uncomfortable...
By: testaandrew
These were the first pair of boots I purchased from of the Thorogood brand. I'm on concrete for 8+ hours a day and needed a comfortable pair of workboots and felt these fit the bill. I ended up having a hard time getting the right size, eventually coming to the conclusion I might need to size a full size and a half down but by that point I was tired of trying different sizes on. The last size I had was a 10EE and the width seemed to be TOO big for me. I only wore these around the house to get a feel for them and I did not like them at all. They are really heavy boots, and really large even with a relatively average boot size. I feel like there'd be a fairly long and painful break in period for these boots and because of that and the sizing issue I decided not to keep them. If you order these keep in mind the wider sizes are pretty darn wide, and add to the clunkiness of this boot. I ended up getting the wedge boot, which are by far more comfortable. I wouldnt let my review deter you however from buying these, as I'm sure they're a fine boot if you get the right fit.

Order FULL Size Smaller!...
By: Rodney M.
Order one full size smaller than you normally wear! I wear a 9.5EE in Red Wing, Keen, North Carolina, and even Thorogood. I own a pair of the Thorogood 6” Moc Toe Wedge in 9.5EE and loved them. I ordered a 9.5EE in these, sent them back for 9EE, and again sent them back for the 8.5EE. I would like to try a pair of 8EE but I am not going to send them back again. The construction of these boots are great. Thorogood did use some cosmetic blemished leather on the inside ankle of 2 of the 3 pairs I looked at. These boots do require some break in time. I coated mine with 3 coats of lexol leather conditioner then wore them for a day. After still being stiff I coated them with 3 coats of Obenauf's LP leather conditioner. After two more days of wear they are nice and comfy now. The only reason I was willing to go through all this trouble for these boots is because I loved my Thorogood 6” Moc Toe Wedge boots and wanted a pair of boots with the same quality and comfort but with a heel.

a little stiff but softening up...
By: william klein
These boots seem to be very rugged and well made. Still stiff, but as I wear them in they are softening up. Its hard to buy made in usa products, but I think its a good idea and important. I have had VERY poor results with expensive Chinese boots. High price and low quality of materials and construction. I recommend these work boots to anyone.

Best Boot Out There...
By: mike mn
I have had these for almost 6 months and I say that they are by far the best boot out there!!! I used to buy Redwings til I got a made in china pair that fell apart ..funny they were made in china but they still charged USA prices for them... these boots run a size big . They actually look better with age too!!

Made in USA, most comfortable all day work boots...
By: Chris in Denver
I really don't know why I bought these boots, but I love them. The cut caught my eye because the heel counter runs forward more than most work boots, and is fairly high, which I think keeps your foot and ankle more stable than most 6 inch work boots. The cut around the vamp/toe/lacing is a little odd, since the tongue is sewn (triple stitch) on top of the toe instead of under. This actually was the hardest part of breaking these in, since the boot wanted to flex forward of my other boots. The leather is thick (except for the tongue) and the Goodyear welt means that these can be rebuilt when you wear out the soles. The soles are incredibly thick, but relatively soft, which means that I can spend all day on my feet and not have any aches or hot spots for my feet. The leather is a decent thickness, and higher quality/toughness than my USA made Chippewas. These also have a high quality insole, and help the boot breath fairly well. I've worn these in the summer in PA and winter in CO and my feet are comfortable in either environment. Definitely my favorite workboot ever. There is a break in period, but it took maybe a week of medium use before they started to form to my feet and loosen up in all the right places. I have a pair of 9D, and for me they do run a half size bigger than street shoes (I wear 9.5 D in most shoes), and are maybe a quarter size bigger than my Chippewa workboots (which are slightly tight and narrow at 9D).
