No Water on my Ball Sack!...
By: Jean Leloup
I live in Canada where it snows a lot in the winter and I am also a part of the Royal Montreal Curling Club. One of our senior members had mentioned to me that he has been using this stuff for many years to protect his leather ball sack from getting damaged by snow during transportation. I have since applied some on my ball sack and could not be happier!!

Nothing better!...
By: Mary Linda
I have worked many phases of construction for many years and have always used Sno-seal on my boots. It holds up to everything. Currently I work in the marcellus ga industry hauling water into different ponds & sites and never have to worry about wet feet even though we regularly have to work in several inches of water. Would not ever wear new boots without using this product first! However in application I use the hair dryer on the boots to open the pores of the leather not to heat the product, then I apply it and later wipe off the excess. Works for me.

Best water protection available...
By: brianeugne
Sno-seal is the best waterproofer available. However, that isn't entirely positive. It seals so well, that my feet get sweatier. I've heard from cobblers that the leather can't breath when sno-sealed and thus breaks down sooner. For anything less than hiking through streams, I recommend Obenauf's. But if you need extreme water protection, go with sno-seal.

Good for waterproofing...
By: Eric
For care of my nicer boots, I use the Obenauf's products, but I use this stuff on the boots I need to absolutely be waterproof, and on my cheaper shoes. As others have written, this stuff keeps your feet nice and dry.

By: Doug
If you value your leather hiking boots, avoid Sno Seal. It does a great job initially and keeps your feet dry. But if you plan to keep your boots for many years, pick something else. I had a pair of Pivettas that I loved. Eventually the leather rotted, despite keeping a coating of Sno Seal on the boots. I showed them to a man who repairs work boots. He told me that Sno Seal seals so well that the sweat from your feet stays in the leather and eventually the salts cause the leather to break down. I just bought a pair of work boots from him and he gave me a tin of Bear Grease (also available from this website) to treat them. I'll report back in 20 years or so to let you know how that worked!

I work in a 4-star kitchen and I tramp through detergents, grease, and kitchen slop. My feet stay dry all day long. I recommend putting the shoes in the oven at 140 degrease to open the pores in the leather. apply as recommended and repeat.

By: R R
I'm a snowboarder. I use this product on leather snowboard/ski gloves and it works great. It works better then any nikwax product. After one application on a set of old leather insulated gloves it completely restored the waterproofing and revived the life of them. Highly recommended for all leather, synleather, goatskin leather, etc gloves.

Don't use on suede...
By: johnlavery
You shouldn't use this product on suede, its just dumb to water proof suede, this is meant for leather and only leather in my opinion.
I really like this product only thing is that the color of the boots changes whenever it is applied and same goes for the Obenauf's Heavy Duty leather Care thing, this darkens a tan to almost a dark brown at least for me I don't know about everyone else.

I have used sno seal for over 30...
By: Kerry Doyle
I have used sno seal for over 30 years on boots and shoes, including a pair of Herman Survivor boots whose 30 yr longevity can be traced to the useof the product. Smear it on, then use a hair drier at its hottest setting to melt the wax so it absorbs into the leather. The leather stays flexible & repels water, prolonging its life. Expect the abosrption to darken your leather, which is OK, unless you plan to wear dress footware excessively in winter slop. Dry feet are also warmer feet. Also good for workboots exposed to wet lawns, fields, etc.

Great for harsh conditions...
By: astepbehind
The SNO SEAL Beeswax waterproofing leather protector is my go to water proofing agent for my boots. Be warned that it does seem to restrict how much your boots can breathe, however if you are going to be using them when it's wet/snowy/etc, it is definitely worth it.

Although I have had some success using a hair dryer to melt the wax on, I would actually recommend using the oven on the lowest setting. If you set it low and just hold your boots by the open door until they are warm (not hot!), it is much easier to apply. After you have applied/done a light wiping give them a bit more heat to allow the wax to soak in, then wipe off the excess!

By: John Low
My wife says I had my old work boots when we met 30 years ago. I wear them whenever there's slop and snow, which means road salt too. The boots are still soft and waterproof because I apply sno-seal when I first wear them each fall.

Great Waterproofer...
By: rcbc96
I wanted to waterproof my boots and looked and read all kinds of reviews for different products until I landed on this product. It works really good. I found out that this stuff soaks into the leather instead of just staying on the surface. The key to make it soak in is to heat the boots with a blow dryer first so the wax melts in. If you need a waterproofer....use this Sno Seal.

Protect your leather investments with Sno-Seal...
By: QuadK
Sno-Seal is a heavy duty waterproofer primarily consisting of beeswax. This product can help extend the life of your leather items, but I primarily use Sno-Seal on my rugged boots. However, like most other leather preservatives, this product will darken the leather, so make sure you spot test it before applying to the whole area. To use this product, make sure you heat up the leather before applying the product with your hands. Afterwards, heat up the leather again briefly. Let stand for several hours and blot away any excess product.

Great...
By: CL
I've been looking to purchase SNO SEAL waterproofing leather protector for my boots and jackets for a while now and decided to pull the trigger. It definitely helped restore my boots and made the leather feel much more supple. It however turned it a shade darker which I did not mind. This really does help keep snow and water from damaging my boots. And it is extremely easy to apple the beeswax to your leather. I was thinking about purchasing mink oil but heard too many bad things about it. This is definitely the real deal and I recommend it.

Waterproofs my boots...
By: rev_rend
I've used Sno Seal and Obenauf's Leather Protector on my boots and other leather goods. I like that Sno Seal is also beeswax based and appreciate how effective it is as a waterproofing product for my boots. It is good stuff, and if your priority is waterproofing, then absolutely use this.

But for good water protection, I prefer Obenauf's. Both apply best with heat (I use a hair dryer to melt them in to the leather), but Obenauf's goes on a bit easier for me. And it doesn't hurt that it smells a bit better than Sno Seal.

Both are good choices, and you'll probably be very happy with this product.

By: nester
THIS IS A GREAT PRODUCT AT A GREAT PRICE. MY HUSBAND HAS BEEN USING THIS FOR YEARS ON ALL HIS BOOTS. HES A TREE TRIMMER AND WORKS ALL YEAR ROUND IN THE SNOW AND SLUSH AND RAINY DAYS AS WELL. NO COMPLAINTS HERE AND HE HAS MANY BRAND BOOTS FROM GEORGIA, DANNERS, CAROLINAS ECT. MAIN THING IS NOT TO OVER KILL WHEN APPLYING, A LITTLE GOES ALONG WAY AND WITH THIS STUFF YOU SHOULD NOT THINK MORE IS BETTER. BUY IT AND KEEP YOUR FEET DRY.
