Most Durable...
By: Barry
I have used these boots for about 10 years now, yes they take a little time to break in . My current pair I have been wearing now for over a year and a half and am just now sensing support break down. I definitely will get another pair. I keep the old ones for doing chores around the house and wood cutting until I cannot wear them any more.

Great Boot!...
By: Mike
I'm a route driver for UD Foodservice. We walk between 2-3 miles a day making our deliveries. I needed a boot that provides slip resistance, abrasion resistance and comfort. This is one sturdy boot. The off set eyelet eliminates heel movement in the boot and the padded collar and tongue adds to comfort. WPS is good on there word also, I found the same boot at a lessor price and they honored there 120% price guarantee. I'll continue to shop here for my work boots and probably other products.

Outstanding!...
By: Patrick B
I have owned these boots going on 7yrs now, used 5 days/week, and they are still in wonderful shape! Soles still have about 30% tread left, and the leather hasn't even worn down to the steel insert. Hands down the best bang for your buck!

I have bought many different brands of boots at varying prices. I'm on concrete 12 hrs a day and these are best of all that I have purchased. Very light and durable, and look good. I did buy boot socks that I wear with these boots, and they really help. Size is a true fit.

By: R. Shane
I have worn a variety of top named work boots throughtout the years and these are by far the best pair I have ever owned. I've worn these everyday for the past year and they are still in top shape. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a comfortable, well made, and durable boot.

Good Boots...
By: AZCowboy
I was somewhat apprehensive about buying boots, without trying them on first. My nine year old Ariat's wore through the sole, and I needed a replacement. A comparable pair of Ariats are about $180.00. These were a little stiff when I got them. Having worn boots for a while, I suspect these are bull hide judging by the thickness of the leather. Now after two weeks, I can slip them onto my feet without even touching the boot. I like the more rounded toe, and it provides a little added wiggle room for my toes. The tops and sides are still a bit stiff, but I think this too shall pass. When I look at the value compared to other boots, this one is a winner.

By: Tim
I've gone through about 6 pairs of these in the last 5 or 6 years. They last me about 6-7 months which is remarkable for the line of work I'm in. I'm a machinist and am constantly walking on metal shavings/chips and oil. I try something new every now and then but always come back to the Pit Boss.

For the money the boot is strong. They are not to easy on the feet. They are very stout, maybe that is what makes them so uncomforable.

By: Ken
These boots last forever! As a welder I used to go through boots about every 6 to 9 months before the heals were worn lopsided and the toe was wearing through. I wore these boots hard daily for 3 months before the soles showed the slightest bit of ware! After a year and a half they are still solid enough to use daily. They are sturdy with great traction and very comfortable!

By: Chris
Well, I hate to say it, but these are the most uncomfortable boots I have ever owned.
I have had them for about two weeks now, and I have worn them to work (I'm a truck driver)
five times. My feet are still killing me after wearing them. When I get out of the big truck after driving for several hours and start walking, the pain is terrible. I have never owned any boots that have taken more than a couple of days to break in. I hope these break in eventually. Maybe I just got a poorly constructed pair. I wish I had never forked out the hard earned money for these boots... I just may have to go shopping for another pair of work boots and throw these things in the trash can.

Update After Break-In (assisted with 2 lb. sledge!)...
By: Simon
Well, after wearing these Timberland Pro boots at work for about a month now, I've finally got them to the point where they are comfortable, and I've discovered that the problem with the hard spot over my right ankle was only partially due to a burr on the inside of the lace hook rivet. The other part was due to the way the boot was sewn at the tongue right over that spot, where the seam tended to dig into my skin after wearing it a while. The solution? I pressed the boot tongue between a 2 lb. sledge and a carpenter's hammer and BEAT on the sucker, thus hammering the seam flat. NOW it doesn't hurt. And it's actually a very comfortable boot to wear on concrete floors all day. But hey, it shouldn't take beating the hell out of a boot with a couple of hammers to make it work right. C'mon, Timberland.

another durable hiking boot...
By: CuriousApe
These are truly waterproof! I hiked through mud, snow, and water and my feet stayed completely dry! When I first put them on, I thought they were comfortable but needed breaking in. But I went on a five mile hike and I had no blisters so they weren't too stiff! They offer great traction, even on muddy, wet, and leaf-covered hills!my feet stayed warm in mid-30s day but never got hot. I believe I will be able to wear these Timberland Pro shoes on the summer too-I don't think they will be too hot. I have a weak ankle and these offer terrific support through all kinds of terrain. They are extremely well made and I believe that I will be hiking for years and miles to come!!

The Most Uncomfortable boots I have ever worn...
By: John410
Yes, these are well made, sturdy work boots. They will last forever. However they also are the most uncomfortable boots I have ever worn. They just won't break in, and your feet are too valuable to be treated this way. I buy and continue to buy Timberland work boots and shoes. They make some of the best, most comfortable work shoes, I know, i just ordered another pair of Timberland work shoes. These ones I finally just took to the dump, and they look almost new. Probably, the problem is that they are so firm around the ankles and I am spoiled by Timberland Pros other offerings. i thought that before I dumped them i would keep them for when I use the backhoe and work in the trenches, but they after 2 yrs of intermitanant wear are just too uncomfortable & stiff. Hopes this helps before you spend good money.

Solid pair of boots...
By: Coolpopjr
These lasted twice as long as most boots do for me in my line of work(6 months). I am consistently on steep roofs and in trees so my boots tend to wear out fast. These lasted a full year before now the soles have come apart and worn down beyond what is safe to wear on the roof. I am here today shopping for a replacement pair but these still look good enough to retire to a pair of ground work only boots. For the money these Timberland Pro boots are well worth it and they actually look very good just to wear out if you happen to be lucky enough to not work your butt off in them like I do.

Good Value Let Down By Poor Quality Control...
By: Simon
For the money, (I got these on sale at Working Person for about $79), these are a really good deal, but Timberland really needs to do something about its quality control. Yes, the boots are stiff when you first wear them, which is to be expected with most work boots, but there was a hard spot just at my right ankle, on the inside of the foot, that kept digging in and digging in throughout my work day until the pain became almost unbearable. No problem at all with the left boot. At home, I examined the right boot closely and discovered a burr where the lace hook was riveted to the boot. It did not come into contact with my foot directly, which made it hard to spot, but after wearing the boot a while, it started to really press in through the tongue. I filed it down and most of the problem went away. It's going to take a bit more filing, but I have to be careful so as not to break the rivet. Point being, the boots should not have been allowed to leave the factory this way. I guess this is what comes of outsourcing. This is my third pair of Timberland boots. The first pair, the Titan work boot, lasted several years until the chemically-bonded sole came apart. The second, the Helix, with anti-fatigue technology, is so far the best boots I have ever worn. But, it also has a chemically-bonded sole, which will probably not outlast the leather of the boot. The Pit Boss has a Goodyear welted sole, which means it can be repaired, so that is a plus. What we need here is a boot with a welted sole AND anti-fatigue technology with better quality control. I'll be looking for that. You paying attention, Timberland?

Great boots...
By: Chuck
I have worn these Timberland boots for about 5 years. They used to come in black non steel toe (wish they still did), however I've been through 3 pairs and all have had no problems once broken in. Wear them almost daily for 12 + hours.

Update: Several Months In...
By: Simon
After my initial problems with some quality issues on this boot (solved with a file and two sledge hammers -- yes, seriously), I have now been wearing them for several months and would like to echo what several people on here have said about the break-in. Basically, these boots start out really stiff and pretty much stay that way. (I do not find them uncomfortable, because I'm used to heavy boots, but some people apparantly do.) Perhaps they will eventually break in, but at this point, I'm thinking it's the design. They're just stiff boots, and heavier than several other pairs of Timberlands I own. On the plus side, they do provide good support on concrete floors, but for those who work on hard surfaces every day, the Timberland Helix boot is a much better buy. It's a bit more expensive, but in my humble opinion, quite worth it. It's a lighter boot, with better quality leather, and the anti-fatigue technology in the sole makes it much, much more comfortable to wear on concrete floors all day. I've learned one thing about Timberland boots: there are significant differences between the different models. The Titan boot is the lightest, by far, like wearing moccasins, but the chemical bonding on the sole doesn't last and it start to delaminate after a while, or after getting wet. The chemical bonding on the sole of the Helix seems to be much better. I still think Timberlands are some of the best boots going, but you gotta do your research (the reviews on this site really help) and your gotta pick and choose.

One damned fine boot!...
By: Joe Jacobs
It's early in the game yet, so I can't speak to durability just yet, but here goes...

Initial fit - Men's size 8, wide = perfect for what I ordered. They felt good the first day I put 'em on.

Break-in period - very short. By the 3rd day, they were fitting much better than new and feeling better also.

Waterproof - I work in a brewery and my job takes me in that area several times a day. It's wet on the floor and things are being sprayed down constantly. My work requires that I spray my tools and fill my mop bucket with the 180˚ water for cleaning. So far, no issues with the boots keeping the water OUT.

Traction - in that brewery area, the floor is a smooth, painted surface. When it's wet, it can be very slippery. No slippage issues with these boots so far.

With the way they've performed right out of the chute, I'm looking forward to other times when these boots will be tested - yardwork, shoveling snow, etc.

I checked many, many of the reviews on this model Timberland boot before ordering, and I guess you can add me to the list of satisfied buyers.

Finally!...
By: Mamie
My husband has been looking for a pair of soft toe Timberland boots for several months now and we can never find the right size and style. His boots were in really bad shape and were coming apart at the seams. This is not the style we usually buy, but we were running out of options and took a chance. He is a happy man. Thank you working person.com!

very comfortable...
By: bobbimay
These boots are durable and have a very comfortable sole with give. The soft leather makes them very pliable to form to your feet and ankles without them rubbing and creating blisters. I highly recommend them. My husband bought the boots for work he is a roofer and estimator and this is the first time he ever bought or tried the Timberland pro series, and he is very satisfied. We had to drive out of town to a mall that has a working persons store and it was worth it by far! My husband has always bought work boots from k-mart or Walmart and I would tell him those aren't going to last and he would say but they are comfortable. Well sure enough they never lasted and were tore up by the next season. Now that he has bought this boot so far he is very satisfied and so am I because the other boots he has tried would already look tore up and beat down but the timberland pros look very good and I can tell that they will last twice as long. I would recommend this product to any person especially construction and factory workers. I have told him what was told to me by mother who was a factory worker on an assembly line also like myself "that it is worth paying extra for quality work shoes after all that is what you make your money in, they pay for themselves".
