This Dickies TE242 nylon vest goes under my work jackets perfect. And when it starts warming up just a little outside and my heavy jacket is to hot, this vest is just right. I got a lot of Dickies work clothes.

Good, inexpensive, waterproof...

Really like the Dickies Vest TE242. When I'm working, I like to dress in layers. It's especially helpful in those in-between months where you bundle up against the cold, but then you get out working up a sweat, and suddenly your work jacket is too hot and you feel like you're burning up. This vest is a good one to have underneath that jacket for those times. It's thick and quilted, so it's both warm and comfortable. It's waterproof, so it can take a beating. The nylon is quality material, and the price point is just right for a vest like this. There's a reason you see so many folks wearing these on the job.
