Even the desert tan suede and nylon used to make the 9 inch uppers feels soft. Suede has a fuzzy, springy texture, but it's tough against weather and wear. Breathable nylon keeps cooling air flow moving around feet, reducing sweat and preventing heat from building up.
Speaking of heat, the nylon mesh lining inside is moisture-wicking. The airy material wicks sweat away from skin, so feet stay dryer. Any good soldier knows that dry feet are healthy feet, less prone to fungus and other problems. Side zippers make it easy for you to access all that cool comfort, so you can bypass the tall lacing system if you like.
