Spyderco Byrd Meadowlark2 Lightweight Combo Edge Knife – a lot of words for a little knife with a big heart. It’s a second-generation knife based on the Byrd Meadowlark Lightweight. That’s why they call it the Meadowlark2. The Byrd line has always been popular, but this new addition is taking off like crazy.
It has a full flat ground blade, giving you an improved edge for better cutting performance. The fiberglass reinforced handle (FRN) is textured so you can get a firm grip. The washers are smoother than other hardware because they’re made with phosphor bronze.
Although the words are a little unusual, you’ll like the spine and choil jimping. The spine and choil are the areas of the blade (on the back and edge) that are near the handle. They’re not sharpened, but are cut out to make room for your fingers, giving you more control.
Spyderco Byrd Meadowlark2 Lightweight Combo Edge Knife is part of the Byrd family of unique products. The line came about when Spyderco’s designers got together with some custom knife-makers. They ended up with this great line of high-quality knives at competitive prices.

A bit stiff/gritty opening out of the box, but that smoothed out nicely over a few days. Solid lockup with no blade movement side to side or up/down. I really like the feel of this knife and would use it for EDC since it can be beaten up or lost without much loss.
This knife would get 5 stars from me if the blade was better from the factory. If I had not been able to fix it myself I would have been very frustrated. Even with this issue, solid 4 stars.
