Thorogood 831-6032 Unisex Poromeric High-Gloss Academy Chukka Boots are for use when you’re attending a law enforcement school. They’re high-gloss black, so they’ll look good with the rest of your uniform. Here’s where the confusing word comes in - it’s poromeric.
Poromeric material isn’t leather, but it’s porous, like leather. And like leather, it’s breathable. Some people call it Vegan leather. It’s made from a fibrous base layer, like polyester. Then it’s covered with a plastic coating. You can blame DuPont for the name poromeric. They started it because it combines the two words microporous and polymeric. They were chemical engineers, it made sense to them.
Chukka boots are like Desert Boots, but a little different. They’re still ankle-high and have two or three eyelets. But besides being glossy, the ankle is tighter than on a Desert boot and they've got rubber soles, not crepe soles. Anyway, these Chukka boots are easy to care for and have a composite shank so your feet will feel better after you chase pretend bad guys all day. They also have removable EVA footbeds and Poron 4000 heel pads. So, as you stand there in your dress uniform, sweating in the summer heat, at least your feet will feel good.
The Thorogood 831-6032 Unisex Poromeric High-Gloss Academy Chukka Boots are worn by both men and women, but you need to adjust the sizes. Like a woman’s size 8 is a men’s size 6 – just call us if you get confused. You can even ask us questions about the microporous, polymeric, poromeric stuff.
