The outer shell of this FR hood, which is brown, is constructed of a 10-ounce duck that's a blend of 88% cotton and 12% nylon. The hood is lined with 13-ounce, flame-resistant Modacrylic batting that's quilted to a flame-resistant twill lining. The outer material is meant for durability, while the material that's closest to your skin is smooth so it won't irritate you.
Flame-resistant products are intended to provide layers of protection between you and work-place hazards. This FR hood has an Arc rating (ATPV) of 37.5 cal/cm2 and is HRC Level 3. In order to maintain the fire-resistant hood's level of flame resistance, you can launder it at home using only detergent and then tumble it dry.
