These shoes are put together to STAY together. Opanka construction uses a method of hand-stitching the upper, socklining and outsole directly together, which gives the shoe better flexibility. There is also a cushioning effect so you feel better on your feet. These shoes also feature a removable air cell polyurethane cushioned footbed for even more comfort. An anti-microbial mesh sock liner keeps it all fresh.
The uppers are made of full-grain leather for maximum flexibility and lasting durability. The composite toes are ASTM rated for safety. They're also ASTM Electrical Hazard rated, to protect you from jobsite dangers. Wolverine also made them rugged, with compression-molded EVA midsoles and nylon shanks, plus sculpted rubber outsoles that are both oil- and slip-resistant.

For my job, I need to have safety shoes with toe protection. Typically in the past, this meant steel toes. Unfortuntely, steel in my shoes triggers the security metal detectors at work (Nuclear Plant). The composite toe means I can keep my shoes on when going into my job. No more wet socks on rainy / snowy days.
