Benchmade Knives: Osborne Combo Edge Folding Knife 580S
Some pocket knives are small and pointed, making them good for cleaning out fingernails or taking on small slicing tasks. The Benchmade 580S Osborne Design Barrage Combo Edge Knife is lightweight and easy to wield, but tough enough to take a variety of cutting and dicing chores. Sure, you can use it for your fingernails - and almost everything else, too.
The combination cutting edge is made with 154cm stainless steel, a corrosion-resistant material that withstands the test of time. Rated 58-61 on the HRC scale that determines blade hardness, this knife may be sharpened should the blade ever grow dull. The blade thickness measures only .121 inches, a razor-fine edge. Just 3.6 inches in length, it’s the perfect size for handheld use.
The black Valox handle, a slim .65 inches thick, is lined with 420J stainless steel. An Axis assist locking mechanism helps the blade hold its position, so it won't slip out of place during use. The drop-point blade has an ambidextrous thumb-stud opener, so it may be accessed from either side. Overall, the knife is 8.35 inches long, and a pocket-sized 4.75 inches when closed.
The Benchmade 580S Osborne Design Barrage Combo Edge Knife, made in the USA, weighs only 4.2 ounces. . .but, there's a lot of power packed into this lightweight tool.
