The Benchmade 580 SBK ComboEdge Barrage Knife continues the companys reputation for delivering exceptional cutlery for the outdoor sportsman/woman. The American made 580SBK is manufactured with 154CM stainless steel. U.S.A. Special Forces use knives made from this steel. Originally developed for heavy industrial uses, 145CM stainless steel provides good edge retention and quality and is easy to sharpen. In addition the material resists corrosion.

The length of the Drop-point blade of the 580 SBK Barrage Knife is 3.60 inches and the thickness is 0.121 inches. The blade hardness is 58-61HRC. The overall length of the knife is 8.35 inches while the closed length is 4.75 inches.

Benchmark uses the AXIS Assist locking mechanism on the 580SBK Barrage Knife. This is one of the first knives to use both an AXIS lock and a spring assist. The AXIS locking system is considered to be the strongest locking system available on a folding knife. An AXIS lock can handle over 800 lb-inches of torque. Adding the spring assist, gives you speed in opening. You can open the knife with either hand thanks to the ambidextrous thumb-stud opener.

The handle is made from Valox, a lightweight glass-filled nylon. The black textured handle provides a good grip while merging an ergonomic feel with a great look. Designed by Warren Osborne, the handle features scallops or finger indents to allow your hand to sit easily on the back of the handle. The handle is only 0.650 inches thick. By using a skeleton frame, Benchmark is able to reduce material and minimize weight in the full-length 420J stainless steel liners. The knife weights only 4.20 ounces.
