Duck, when it comes to garments and not dinner options, is a durable, water-resistant cotton material that lends itself well to outerwear. Carhartt uses it in 13-ounce weight to craft a coat that protects its wearer from wetness as well as flame. The 10.5-ounce quilted lining and modacrylic batting are also flame-resistant. Even the hook-and-loop closures resist flame. Keep weather out with the Nomex rib knit storm cuffs, too, to stay warm and dry.

Two inside patch pockets keep valuables close at hand. Two-way brass front zipper with Nomex zipper tape plus inside and outside protective flaps and hidden-snap closure give electric-arc protection. There are snaps under the collar for the optional flame-resistant hood. You'll find Carhartt FR and HRC 4 labels sewn on left pocket. Plus, it's NFPA 70 E compliant.
