When you need exceptional flame-resistant protection, turn to one of the experts--Berne. This Berne Men’s FRHJ01 BD Duck FR Quilt Lined Water-Resistant Hooded Jacket is made to protect you from feeling the “burn” from dangerous flames. Get it, “Berne” and “burn”? All kidding aside, flames, extreme heat and burns are no joking matter. So let’s get serious about the protective features on this flame-resistant Berne Jacket.
This brown, hooded jacket is made from 10 ounce 88% cotton, 12% nylon flame-resistant duck. No, you won’t find any feathers anywhere on this work jacket. Cotton duck is heavy canvas that’s extremely durable. This Berne FR Jacket is OSHA approved (meets 1910.269 requirements), ASTM F1506 approved, and NFPA 70E compliant. All this technical talk means that you’ll have flame-resistant protection through and through. In addition, cotton duck is treated to make it water-resistant. So you’ll be comfortably drier on those drizzly, misty mornings.
Speaking of comfort, you’ll welcome the warmth of the heavyweight flame-resistant quilt lining that’s been added to in inside of this insulated jacket. The modacrylic batting has been quilted to 100% twill cloth to create a soft interior that will keep you warm even on those cold winter days. The twill is flame-resistant as well, so you’ll be warm and safe from every angle in this fire-resistant jacket.
What’s great about this FR jacket is that the flame-resistant protection doesn't just end with the fabric. The heavy-duty brass front zipper is flame-resistant and is covered by a storm flap with concealed snaps to help keep the elements out. The inside double pocket with flame-resistant hook-and-loop closure keeps your valuables safely tucked away. You’ll find even more storage space in the two FR lined front patch pockets. When the wind really starts howling, you’ll appreciate the three-piece insulated hood with flame resistant drawstring that is attached to this flame-resistant jacket. Pull the drawstring tighter to help trap the warmth around your head. Hidden flame-resistant rib-knit storm cuffs create a snug fit that prevents the chilly air from sneaking inside.
Triple-needle stitched main seams and elbow patches make an already exceedingly durable insulated jacket, even more long-wearing. In addition to it being flame-resistant, durable and warm, this Berne jacket fits great too. The deep bi-swing action back and elastic waistband makes this the perfect men's work jacket. You’ll be able to get even the most physically demanding job done with ease.
Flames, heat and burns are no laughing matter. Trust your body to the burn prevention experts--Berne. Shield yourself in a Berne Men’s FRHJ01 BD Duck FR Quilt Lined Water-Resistant Hooded Jacket.

I usually only buy and wear Carhartt jackets, so when I received this Berne jacket as a gift I was hesitant to its quality. Now after a little time of owning and wearing it around its not that bad. Well made, well insulated and a tough flame resistant shell makes this jacket rank up there with Carhartt.

Warm and toasty but still sturdily made...
Only had an opportunity to wear the jacket a few times before Winter was over, but it was true to size and very comfortable to wear. Purchased late in the season during an end of season promotion at WPS. The outer shell, brown duck, appears to be very sturdy, and yet it is not stiff like some Carhartt duck jackets I own. Inside lining is warm, which means here on the Gulf Coast of Texas it will not get any further wear till possibly December of this year. By appearance and fit, the jacket is well made and I predict will serve me well for multiple years. Like another reviewer I had doubts about Berne, but I am very pleased with the jacket.

Berne FR Jacket rides with the best...
In preparation to start a new job, I started searching for an FR jacket to get me through winter work in eastern Montana. While browsing various FR brands, I found this Berne jacket that looked like a nice choice--every bit as durable and well made like Carhartt and others. I had never heard of Berne, but it was a great price value and I gave it a shot.
Now, I've worn the coat 12-14 hr/day, 5-7 days/week for five months and it is still going strong. It's a tough coat and my job at an oil refinery gives it a daily workout. It's very well fit, comfortable and softer after being washed a few times. I especially like the wind resistance, hood (when I'm not at work), and gusseted arms which accommodate bulky clothing and allow extra reach without pulling up at the wrist. The zipper is heavy duty and was starting to stick a little, but some lubrication restored it. It would be nice if they made the same version without a hood because I wear a hardhat at work and don't need a hood then. I use the hood at home regularly and it fits great!
Overall, I am very impressed with the coat and would definitely recommend it to any working person. I plan to get some other FR clothing for the summer and Berne will be at the top of my list.
