Heavy weight, durable, and ready to be abused....
By: RMF408
I purchased one of these to replace my LL Bean equivalent jacket. The J140 is on the bulky side, but rest assured, it doesn't feel that way once it's on. When you slip on the jacket, it feels like you've donned a suit of armor - only it's warm and comfy like your favorite hoodie on a cool day. Like the rest of their stuff, it's constructed of HD cotton duck (resistant to cuts/snags) and seams are triple stitched. This one has great thermal lining and a hidden interior breast pocket. The hood is also lined and is attached to the jacket.
Note- the YKK zipper on this thing is a brass monstrosity! Good luck ruining this garment!

Very warm when very cold out...
By: Steve Mahoney
Had one given to me two Christmases ago and had gotten paint all over it so now it is used for work. I loved this coat so much that I had to have me another one so I have one to go out in.
Great jacket and I am glad I bought it, it is very warm!

Almost Perfect, But Not Quite...
By: Simon
Bought one of these from Working Person several years ago, so I now have a pretty good perspective on how it works and holds up over time. On the plus side: it's a warm jacket, with room for layering, available in a nice variety of colors. It's got a nicely functional, roomy hood that allows you to wear a baseball cap without it getting in the way. On the minus side, as a number of people here have mentioned, sizing seems to be an issue with Carhartt for some reason. (Also, there have been some quality control issues reported with the stitching, though I have not had problems with those.) Mainly, the jacket's fit is extremely loose. The knitted wrist bands and waistband are so loose that they allow drafts to come up. This may not be a problem if you're one of those guys with a beer belly who can't see their feet when they're standing up straight, but otherwise, it's an issue that affects the jacket's function. I still like the jacket, but for they price, it should be better, especially when Berne makes a very similar jacket, which fits better and works just as well, for a more attractive price. My advice, if you want to buy one of these, is to try it on in a store first before ordering it online, so you know what to expect with the sizing.

Excellent heavy coat for NE US...
By: Bruce
I bought the coat for my son who is in the Coast Guard stationed in New Hampshire and lives across the state line in Maine. Excellent warmth, rugged exterior will last for many years. Size runs a little large but not enough to go a full size smaller. Great coat, son is extremely pleased so yeah I recommend it with 5 stars.
