Great shoe! I decided to try them out...
By: Pete
Great shoe! I decided to try them out since they where one of the few shoes made in the U.S. I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable they are even after standing all day. I use them after work, to work (on a motorcycle) and for hiking. They have performed great. My only complaint is that the rubber chipped away after a year between the sole and the leather. This did not affect the shoe in any way, it was only cosmetic. After a year and a half of ownership the only reason I am buying a new pair is because the dog chewed them up. That being said, the leather is thick and of good quality.

good quality, great price!...

I'm on my feet all day in the grocery business. Comfort, safety, and durability are all musts. This boot fits the bill. Decided to give these Thorogood boots a try based on a peer's advice. Glad I did. Would suggest these shoes to anyone in my field of work or the restaurant business where you are working on slick surfaces.

Solid boot with minor side issues...
By: Andre H.
Pros: boot seems solidly constructed. I've been wearing them for 3 months now, as my main black shoe around town (not for heavy duty work). They're comfortable over all. If you're not used to the chukka cut, it comes in around the top of the ankle, and this can take a little getting used to (minor blistering), but once you do, it feels good and looks good.

Cons: Insoles. After 2 months, the right-foot insole developed a hole in the top side of it about 1/4 inch deep, 1" across. Not sure what that was about, given that I wasn't wearing these boots for work. I contacted WorkingPerson, and they said send the boots back for them to take a look at. That didn't make sense to me, since the boots are fine, just not the insole, so I replaced the insoles with a pair of Superfeet, and life is good again.

Also, the laces started splitting within a month after buying, and the interior white elastic is showing in several places. They still tie fine but look a little strange. Again, this shouldn't be happening. I'll replace them at some point.

In summary, these boots are solid and comfortable for casual wear, but the other components (insoles and laces) aren't the same quality.

Thorogood Shoes: Men's 834-6906...
By: Miranda
Excellent shoe for working around oil & transmission fluids. My husband is an Automotive Technician and has bought these for years now and loves the product and they are much cheaper on "The working Person's" website than what we were paying previously. We love the service that we have been provided from your company and look forward to doing business with you again.

Worst boot ever....
By: Helen
These boots would be good if you put a sole on them. The rubber coated foam rubber is the worst possible combination. The rubber coating disintegrates in a year or less weather you wear them or not. Can not believe the Post Office lets you sell these things to Letter Carriers.

Toebox not wide enough...
By: Craig
I usually wear 13W shoes/boots, had to get 13XW for these. There is still not enough width up front in the toebox for a heavier sock and the ball of my foot and the length of the big toe scrape against the inside of the boot. My length is 12 1/2" so with XW this shouldn't be a problem, but is.

Ill fitted shoe...
By: Craig Campbell
After wearing these boots for a year I am definitely dissatisfied. I had to take the insole out of the shoes and put thinner inserts in just to keep my feet and toes from cramping. There is space in front of my toes so I know I have the right length but in spite of the fact I bought extra wide and in spite of the fact I replaced the thick factory insoles with thinner insoles these boots are stilll too tight (too narrow) and my socks bunch up and my feet hurt right up by the ball of my foot so they are definitely not wide enough. I couldn't even wear them with the original insole because they are styled way too narrow for a worl or walking boot. Should fdefinitely have a rounder (wider toe box). I recommend that you not buy these boots until they are restyled with more room up front or be prepared for cramps and discomfort.

Toebox is not wide enough...
By: Craig Campbell
I just ordered a pair of size 13 XW, which I am wearing now to break in. I started out ordering a 13W which I am accustomed to wearing in other shoe styles but they definitely cramped my feet and left no room for a heavier sock. My feet are 12 1/2" long. I like my shoe/boots to be a little loose, especially up front so my toes can breathe and spread out and so my socks are free to move around and I can switch to a heavier sock in winter without my toes being cramped or jammed together. The 13 XW pair I have now is still tight across the front and I think it is because the style of the shoe is too pointed in the front. My right foot in particular scrapes up against the inside of the boot both at the ball and along the length of my right toe. There is definitely no room for heavy socks. If I look down I can see the ball of my foot pushing out the leather and I can feel the end of my toe scraping against the inside of the leather. I think this a design flaw having something to do with style and the manufacturer should open up the arc on the inside front of the boot to give more room for the big toes to spread out. I've never had to order extra wide shoes or boots before. Other than that, the boot is well made and I really prefer to buy all my clothes made in the US.

Excellent boots as expected!...
By: David R Lewis
I tried my first pair of Thorogood shoes several years ago, and I fell in love with them immediately! I can't wear just any shoes or boots, I had both of my ankles broken, and I have some serious arthritis, and I need shoes/boots that fit well and don't break down! I have found such comfortable boots in Thorogood brand! I will continue to purchase Thorogood products because I have learned that I can count on consistent fit and quality!

Strong Boot for Consistent Wear...
By: John the Hiker
I walk nearly every day, hike when possible on all types of terrain, including cement and blacktop. In short, I wear my boots almost every day in a variety of situations. I am quite satisfied with the product, though I have noticed that in the past several years the quality has deteriorated somewhat, suggesting less attention by the Thorogood Company which makes them. I buy a new pair every year and will again until I find a better product for better price.

Great shoes...
By: Greg
I broke my ankle a few years ago and these shoes give enough support. They are light weight but hold up well. They are good in slippery conditions. If you keep them polished and put Obernauf's on now and then they resist water well and look great. This is my second pair because the first pair are going to be my lawn mowing and outside work shoes. Some of the negative reviews are based on size. The shoe comes in many sizes and three widths D, EE, EEEE. I would like a slightly narrower shoe as I have narrow feet. I also have plenty of room in the toe box and always add a second thin liner under a cushioned one from Thorogood and wear thick socks. The great quality original liner has some side material that works better for me after the leather in the shoe stretches a little like all leather shoes will. If you want to stay at maximum comfort you need to examine and replace the liners periodically in any shoe. To people who want a leather shoe to be waterproof, you would have to add frequent treatment with a good quality product like the one I mentioned above. I make all possible efforts to buy QUALITY American goods. Poor quality is never a bargain and foreign goods just do not help support the people in America. The tags also say that these shoes are made by an employee owned company. That is also a good sign that you will find quality. The sole does well walking on sidewalks, blacktop roads, gravel, grass and various trail materials. If you walk on an aggressive industrial surface you need to buy an industrial work boot or shoe also offered by Thorogood. No shoe fits everyone nor is any particular shoe good for every use. Some of these negative reviews may help tell you which type of shoe to buy but disregard reviews that complain about problems you will never encounter. I am 57 and I have yet to hose down a butcher shop. I used to work in a very wet paper mill and I always had 2 pair of taller industrial boots leather well treated and alternated pairs every day allowing the boots to dry completely.

Worst sole ever...
By: Jack
I can see why you guarantee the sole for 1 year. At 1 year the rubber splits and the foam rubber under it falls apart wether you wear them or not. Leather upper still like new. If you get them wet the glue that holds the sole on lets go.
